Can you do miracles? Many Christians live life feeling defeated and powerless. This is the exact opposite of what God intended the born again, spirit-filled believer to live like.
We all marvel at the signs and wonders Jesus did when He was on the earth and rightly so. However, He clearly instructed us to do the same mighty wonders He did and even greater ones. Yet we’re living in a seemingly powerless generation. Why is it that we don’t see many miracles on the earth today?
There are many reasons but I propose the following. Perhaps it is because of the littleness of our faith and the fact that we don’t try, or perhaps we do not believe that He said that all of His disciples (every believer), will have the Holy Spirit living inside of them who enables them to do wonders. No one will ever walk on water unless they climb out of the boat. If we don’t step out we will never find out. Faith is an action. We can just believe that when God said in His word the He gave each one a measure of faith, He did it.
God will never expect you to do something He hasn’t given you what you need to do it. You would not expect someone to make you an omelet unless you give him the eggs to do it with? Why then do we think God will ask us to do something and not give us what we need to do it with? You and I have been given enough faith to do what He asked us to do.
I believe that a great component to us not walking in signs and wonders is that we have lost compassion for people. Jesus was moved with compassion and miracles was the result. I know that probably all of us have been good to someone at one time and was ripped off by a scam or taken advantage of by a person, but it doesn’t change what Jesus asked us to do. Do not grow weary in doing good and in Micah 6:8 He said, “He has shown O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?”
I believe it is a strategy by the enemy to hurt us and keep us away from trusting people so that we grow hard towards suffering and that it keeps us from seeing miracles.
Here is what I intend to do and I hope that I can encourage you to do the same. Everywhere we go in our day to day life, let’s love people, and do good. Smile and pray for them if there is a need. Let’s make an effort to love like Jesus who went about doing good to all.
